Contrite Rawiller to Miss Makybe Diva and Dato Tan Chin Nam
This year’s Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes will be a spectator event for Brad Rawiller. His appeal was denied by the Racing and Appeals Disciplinary Board with regard to his argument that his seven meeting suspension was unduly harsh.
He was supposed to ride Black Heart Bart in the race, but the responsibility for steering the six-year-old gelding and two-time 2016 Group 1 winner will be passed to Damien Oliver.
Rawiller was attempting to get his suspension reduced from seven meetings to six so that he could retain the ride in the Makybe Diva Stakes, but no one at the RAD Board was inclined to acquiesce to his request. He also fears that this ride missed could result on his not getting back on Black Heart Bart ever again.
Rawiller has two suspensions back-to-back and will not be eligible to be back in the saddle until Sunday week.
He was successful in having the suspension reduced from 10 to seven weeks on the charge of careless riding on Black Heart Bart. He will also miss a ride on another of Daren Weir’s charges, Tosen Stardom, in the Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 3.
