Capitalist, Kiss And Make Up, Extreme Choice and Flying Artie Dominate Slipper Odds
Capitalist, at one time a prohibitively short favourite in the upcoming Golden Slipper Stakes, has done a bit of slipping from favour due to his recent loss to Kiss And Make Up.
Some feel that Capitalist had a bad day, but the wise guys seem to feel differently and have priced him at $10 on the day before the race. Kiss And Make Up is a dollar better at $9 and is trained by Gai Waterhouse and owned by John Singleton. The two patched up their falling out from 2013, and even though Waterhouse has been cutting back on her training schedule, she seems to have Kiss And Make Up in prime form.
Extreme Choice is the $3 favourite and Flying Artie at $5 have moved ahead of Snowden brothers trained Capitalist.
All four of these shortest horses have good barriers, so that will not be a factor in the 1200 metre Group 1 race that runs under set weight conditions.
With two-year-old horses with few races under their belts, it is difficult to place much faith in odds and prices might well change in the final hours before the jump.
Extreme Choice and Flying Artie are the first Victorian horses to dominate the market since 2004 when Alinghi jumped at $1.70 but finished third.
