Black Caviar Filly Foal Oscierta Close to Racing Debut
Inaugural Black Caviar foal Oscierta (Societal, according to spell check) is on schedule to jump for the first time at Flemington should Lindsay Park determine that all is in proper alignment.
She has been doing her prep work at Euroa (Europa, Euros, EurOil) in the wilds of Victoria.
David Hayes has been working with the filly and reports that the Lindsay Park stable is pleased with Oscierta’s (no spelling suggestions) to date and that she could racing for the first time in just over a week’s time.
She has yet to go flat out, but build-up gallops have been encouraging, according to Hayes. Part of the plan in taking her to Headquarters is the desire to let her grow accustomed to the high level of training activity normally present at that training centre (canter).
The filly’s mum was trained by Peter Moody and the same ownership group controls Oscierta. Moody retired rather than deal with PED allegations. Exceed And Excel was the sire.
Black Caviar has produced two subsequent offspring, a yearling colt by Sebring and a filly by Snitzel (Stizel, Sintel, SNOTEL).
If those three were to produce anything even remotely similar to Black Caviar’s 15 Group 1 wins and undefeated record, she would have to be a prohibitive favourite for Broodmare of the Year honours.
