Ipswich enjoys a subtropical climate and is a safe, friendly and multicultural city.
The race course has a course proper circumference of 1,746 metres and a straight of 300 metres.
The home straight is a relatively short straight and the racecourse generally favours horses which like racing close to the lead. The course itself is laid out in a circular like shape with five chutes. There is a long turn from the 1000 metres mark. Inside barrier draws are a big advantage.
The Ipswich Turf Club holds races between 1,000 metres and 2,500 metres.
