The Patinack Farm Classic is a Victoria Racing Club Group One Australian horse race for horses aged three years old and over run under weight for age conditions. FREE $250 Bet That Can't Lose

It is contested over a distance of 1200 metres and is held annually at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne on the Saturday following the Melbourne Cup during the Spring Racing Carnival in November.

Prize Money for the Patinack Farm Classic is worth $1,000,000.

Patinack Farm Classic was run as a Group One for the first time in 2007, taking over the Group One status of the Salinger Stakes, a 1200 metre handicap run the previous Saturday.

Originally run as a handicap on Derby Day, in 2007 the sprint was changed to weight-for-age and moved to Emirates Stakes Day where it was renamed the Patinack Farm Classic and was won by Miss Andretti.

The Patinack Farm Classic winners includes Vain (1969), Century (1973), Special (1988), Hareeba (1994), Takeover Target (2004) and Miss Andretti (2007).

Only two horses have won it more than once with Planet Ruler in 1989 and 1990 and River Rough in 1983 and 1984. There have been no multiple winners since it became weight-for-age.

2011 Patinack Farm Classic

Another walk in the park for Black Caviar, as the mare cruised with the field while Buffering took up the early running. As they came into the straight, Black Caviar drew level with Buffering then ran away with it, coasting to the post some two lengths clear although the margin could have been far greater had she been fully extended. Buffering held on for second with a length back to Mid Summer Music in third.
