In 1899 the Mornington Racing Club was first formed with its first meeting at the current site in 1911.

Mornington Racecourse is located only 45 minutes from Melbourne and at the gateway to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, the Mornington Racing Club is fast becoming the premier destination for thoroughbred racing, corporate entertaining and major events.

Mornignton Racecourse voted the Number One Country racecourse in Victoria on three occasions, the Mornington Racing Club will host 20 race meetings with over $2.3m in prize money for the season.

With this prize money on offer they are sure to attract some of the best horses, trainers and jockeys in Australia.

The Mornington Cup is run in February each year and the club is the major venue on AFL Grand Final Day each year.

Racecourse Details:

The Mornington Racecourse has a circumference of 1800 metres and a short 210 metres home straight. The straight has a slight uphill rise but does not impact the runners greatly.  It is one of the stranger shaped tracks in Australia due to its figure 8 chase out circuit.
