Wanganui Racecourse
Wanganui racecourse, New Zealand.
Wanganui has been home to the Wanganui Jockey Club since 1898 and as such they are the oldest racing club in New Zealand still operating on the original land. The racing surface is a sand-based 1700 metre track offering a very good year-round racing surface, and offers excellent viewing from all levels. The racecourse is only minutes from the city centre, with several motels are in close proximity.
Wanganui racecourse is located on Purnell Street, 2km from the central business district. Easily found from all main roads into Wanganui.
Wanganui Guineas and Wanganui Fillies Stakes - Early September Both these races have Listed status and provide top three year old racing in the early part of the season.
