In the heart of the Waikato, Te Awamutu is home to Waipa Racing Club and is
also home to over 200 horses who use the facilities daily for training including
grass and sand tracks, swimming pool etc. Some of the bigger trainers based
there are Graeme & Debbie Sanders, Robert Priscott, Richard & Chris Otto& Keith & Brendon Hawtin. Te Awamutu is a prospering farming town, with a
population of 14,000, 15-20 minutes to Hamilton Airport and an extra 5 minutes
to Hamilton City Centre and just over an hour from the heart of the Bay of
Plenty beaches.
As you enter Te Awamutu from Hamilton (north) take the first road on the right
at the bottom of the hill (Racecourse Road), then approximately 100 metres on
the right is the entrance to the Waipa Racing Club.
If you are coming from Cambridge simply turn right at the roundabout (road to
Hamilton) and then Racecourse Road is approximately 500m on your left (before
you start to go up the hill out of Te Awamutu).
From the South turn right at the first roundabout (into Albert Park Drive)

Memorial Classic.
